Where: 52, Tolstoy Lane, Janpath, New Delhi
Cuisine: North Indian, Spanish, Mediterranean
Cost: 1800 for two

The first thing you will notice on entering Informal is the pretty lights glowing against beautiful wooden ceilings- it is constructed pretty much like a typical wooden cottage in the hills. It's got four seating areas- lounge and bar on the ground, casual dining on the first floor, an outdoor seating area {with beautiful pots and plants and another bar} on the first floor and right above it, the terrace.

I started my afternoon with some white wine sangria and Dahi ke Sholay and I knew I was in for a good time. The kebabs had a lovely crisped skin and perfectly seasoned curd filling. Next up, the vegetarian pizza came with the most perfect base and generous toppings- the caramelised onions lent it a pleasant sweetness. If you are looking for healthy {yet tasty} options, Grilled Zucchini with couscous { served on a flat bread} are a great bet. I also loved the well done, crispy Mushroom Croquetas dipped in cheese. All in all, I was pretty happy with the food on the table- and even happier with the drinks.

The bar tender mixed up a great cocktail with whatever flavours I told him I like {orange, cranberry, lime} - and it was SO GOOD! Other favourites on the table were the theatrical molecular drinks {they are everywhere now, arent they?} and going by the murmurs, their cold coffee is the shiz!

Informal is not just about dining- it is about having an all round good time. The music got me grooving within ten minutes of my arrival- and that says something. The DJ was a jolly fellow and made sure the music was to our liking and we stayed on the dance floor. Exhausted, I climbed up the pretty terrace for a few more drinks and some quiet time. It is such a good space to just take a pause, sit and think. The fairy lights make it all the more magical.

Service was a little slow but the good music didn't make me want to complain. The price point is somewhat higher compared to the other eating places in the area, but a good time is guaranteed!
