What's it about

Teddy Boy is based on a British subculture from the 1950s- Teddy boys dressed in a certain way, mostly inspired by the fashions of the Edwardian period.  The interiors are beautiful, amply lit with only retro beats playing in the background. The terrace was still under construction when I visited {it's open now} and had a beautiful view of the Indian flag in Central Park on one side and Janpath on the other side. While it is a great place to chill and you really could show up in your pjs, I'd suggest you make an effort and dress up all slick and get jiving, it would be even more fun.

You must try..

The menu is full of fusion dishes which have one or more Indian elements. The Potato Skin Salad with mint chutney and a mishti-doi like dressing on the side made for a great start. The spicy garnish with fresh coriander gave it a nice, Indian touch. My personal favourite was Tortilla Bruschetta with creamy mushroom topping and surprisingly, a garnish of chocolate shavings- YUM! The Stuffed Tandoori Mushroom with cheese and paneer filling were nothing spectacular but enjoyable, nonetheless. The Palak Patta Chaat was very disappointing. It was more like batter fried Spinach leaves than chaat, with no toppings {I really hoped they'd serve it with a drizzle of yogurt} and it was intolerably oily.

For desserts, I tried the Ferrero Rocher Golgappa and I did not like it AT ALL! I was fine with the idea of sweet golgappas with chocolate boondi but the strawberry+white chocolate sauce tasted like milkshake gone bad. They've got other less-experimental options on the dessert menu which I'll be happy to try, the next time I visit Teddy Boy.

Teddy Boy signature slurps

Collision Martini with Blueberry and Cucumber was an instant hit on the table. While it looked a little peculiar, it tasted super refreshing! Prom Night LIIT was served rather interestingly in a plastic bag made sturdy using lots of ice and tied with a ribbon on the neck. It was fun for the first few sips but then my hands started getting numb while holding the bag- they MUST serve it better. My favourite however, was the Chennnai Tang with orange, strawberry and curry powder- GENIUS combination!

Overall, it is a beautiful place to hang out with friends or colleagues, post-work. While I'm happy that a concept like this now exists in the city, they could do a lot better in the food department.
