What: Loaded Nachos
Where: Monkey Bar, P Block, Connaught Place
Cost: Around INR 350 (inclusive of taxes)

This is going to be a dish-specific review of the very popular and much talked about Nachos at Monkey Bar outlets (other than the hearty burgers, of course). I visited the tastefully decorated cafe in Connaught Place with a friend especially to try this one dish I had seen a million pictures of on social media.

The seating area has a contemporary yet antique feel to it. With raw, unplastered walls, wooden furniture, quirky wall art, and  somewhat dingy lighting. The ambiance is great for a meal with friends, there's creativity in detailing in every corner (a huge shout out to their witty Washroom signs).

So, a single look at a picture of the Loaded Nachos will make you drool. If you love nachos as much as I do, it might even make you wonder-"What have I been doing with my life? Why haven't I tasted this yet". I mean, have a look. They are ravishing. It really is 'crave at first sight'.

However, on tasting, it wasn't really as good as I had expected. Maybe because the sour cream was a little overpowering. Most of the ingredients were tangy- jalepenos, salsa, sour cream, tomatoes, avocado and the beans. So I couldn't help but miss a dab of sweetness that might have balanced things out a bit. For instance, some mayonnaise would've been nice. I know, I know, that's not the right kind of Mexican. But that's how I like it.

Also, the grated cheese too was half-melted as opposed to the runny version I'm fond of on my nachos. The proportions, however, were perfect and the combination of all things tangy felt like a party in my mouth. The nachos were not at all bad, but I couldn't help but feel that something was missing. Maybe I expected too much out of its stunning pictures on my zomato feed. Nevertheless, Loaded Nachos at Monkey Bar are fun, zingy and definitely worth trying!
