Where: N 3, Level 2, N Block Market, Greater Kailash (GK) 1
Cuisine: American
Cost: 1800 for two

After a wonderful experience at Depot29, I was expecting great things from its fairly new second outlet Depot48- and I wasn't disappointed. With the signature minimal, neat decor, it's a perfect place for both, a low-key evening or a fun brunch with friends. A great plus about both the Depot outlets is that they've always got their gigs calendar full with great indie artists and bands (you can stay updated about the schedule through their Facebook page).

Coming to the food, you simply CANNOT miss the Classic Guacamole that comes with home-made tortilla chips- it's got all things fresh and juicy with a refreshing tinge of lime- it is quite possibly the best I've ever had. Next up, the Three Cheese Cigar Rolls with Smoked Red Pepper dip is the dream starter for all cheese lovers. Crispy on the outside and piping hot with gooey cheese filling inside, this one's comfort food at its best. Though I found the rolls yum by themselves, the red pepper dip made everything better by lending some sharpness to the dish.

I had almost skipped the Salads while flipping through the menu, you know, out of habit but the Restaurant Manager (who is a very sweet chap, count on him for excellent recos) convinced me to try the Quinoa Salad with roasted pumpkin and almond and pomegranate. The perfectly roasted almonds and rockets gave the salad the crunch it needed while the intense honey-lemon dressing lifted the entire dish beautifully. Highly recommended!

You might have had quesadillas with all sorts of veggies but I bet not one with green apple! Depot48's Green apple, rocket and feta quesadillas are one of the many things they are doing differently and doing it well. I was pretty full by this time but I spotted Mac n Cheese on the menu- yep, the star-dish of the evening was yet to arrive. The fact remains that there are very little ways you can do Mac n Cheese wrong- no matter what you do, the end result will always be edible and comforting. However, I will HAVE to applaud Chef Ritu Dalmia for taking the classic dish to the next level. The cheesy sauce, pumpkin and mushrooms were a trio made in heaven. It might seem like I'm exaggerating, but I really cannot explain the kind of satisfaction that bowl of macaroni gave to me.

For dessert, the waffles are undeniable. But since I had already tried the Banana & Toffee waffles at Depot 29, I decided to give their 'Dessert of the day' a go. It was a dark Chocolate Cake in a jar (I could sense a hint of Baileys in there) which I took home and devoured at midnight- the time of the day when I contemplate life and begin dreading going to work the next day. Let's just say, the cake had a calming effect.

Apart from an extensive food menu, friendly staff, and a kickass live-music calendar, another commendable thing about Depot48 is the signature cocktails. S&S recommends: the Jack Bearer-- a beautiful, almost transparent whiskey cocktail, with a mix of orange and vanilla. Order one and I dare you to not order a second round.

GK's N-Block market has become an insane hub of eateries, with closely packed yet spacious restaurants. And Depot48, in my opinion, is a fantastic edition to the ever-increasing line up of places to chill in the area.
