The newest entrant in Ansal Plaza, Trend is all about innovative, fearless experiments with your favourite street food and North Indian dishes. You'd instantly fall in love with its chic contemporary interiors which give the place a very sophisticated vibe. It is potentially the best party place in the area with an impressive bar menu and foot-tapping music.
We started off with Falooda 2.0 which is an interesting take on rabri faluda. The milk-based, rose-flavoured mocktail successfully converts the loved dessert into a drinkable form, with interesting additions like basil seeds and jello. Dilli 6 Burger comes with Indian lentil tikkis bathed in mint and tamarind chutneys with pickled veggies and potato wedges on the side. Like its name, the flavours of the Dilli 6 burger are very old Delhi. Though a bit oily, I liked the Mozarella Bread Pakora for the simple fact that they found a way to add cheese to my all time favourite evening snack.
For mains, we were tempted to order the Burrata Makhni and I am only glad we did. A hearty portion of the burrata cheese placed over fried spinach leaves in a pool of tangy tomato makhni gravy- what's not to love? The Dal Makhni was a bit underwhelming as it missed the creamy richness that I love. For breads, I would highly recommend the flaky Potato Cheddar Kulcha and the brilliant Chur Chur Naan- you wouldn't be able to pick a favourite. Their Shahi Malai Mille Fuille Tukda is the best effing way to end your meal- taste it to believe it!
I had a lovely experience at the restaurant, thanks to its lovely staff and their prompt service. However, keeping the price pint in mind, I do wish that the portion sizes were slightly bigger. I think a place like Trend was long overdue in the city and will definitely play a huge role in the revival of Ansal Plaza.
