I am usually not very keen on ordering Indian street food at restaurants. A very obvious reason being lack of authentic flavours and the unnecessary glamification of these dishes. However, the newly opened Local promises you no-nonsense, restaurant quality Indian street food {among other things} at an impressive price point and also lives up to that promise. They've got a massive space, bang in the middle of CP on KG Marg and it's nearly impossible to miss it while driving through the outer circle.

I went for a solo binge-sesh at Local and had a great time. A groovy Kygo playlist and an interesting cocktail menu kept me company. I started off with the Chai Ka Punch, a concoction of Old Monk, lime juice and Earl Grey tea. It was delicious and potent- a thrilling combination for a cocktail lover like me. I also liked how they served it in an aluminium kettle with the cutting-chai glass!

My Hummus and Pita platter arrived seconds later and it was definitely one the best I've had in a while. Also, the portion size is huge, unlike most of the restaurants in CP. The next-to-perfect hummus and super fluffy pita upped my expectations from Local. Next up, Masala Soya Chaap was as succulent as chaap can get, with a yummy, spicy masala stuffing in between. Though extremely soft on the inside, its skin was done nice and crisp. Another one of my favourites, were the melt-in-mouth Kesari Dahi Kebabs: slightly sweet, very creamy and extremely satisfying. Both the chaap and the kebabs were served with the classic mint chutney and onion salad.

I then moved on to the Chinese options- they've tried to include the much loved 'Chinjabi' dishes we can't ever say no to. The Thela Chowmein and Wok Salt and Pepper did not disappoint. It wasn't over spicy- just simple and comforting Chinese food that can turn a bad day around.

I wanted to try the Raj Kachori and the desserts but had already stuffed myself with TOO. MUCH. FOOD. I finished off with another stellar cocktail called 'Local Drink' with white rum, pineapple juice, coconut water and coriander leaves.

From all the newbies, Local is probably the only place in CP that has truly impressed me food-wise and one that I can't wait to go back to. The service is super quick and the staff is very, very courteous. A big thumbs up!
