A staycation to remember {Sandal Suites By Lemon Tree}

I have no shame in accepting that I belong to the generation that lives for the weekend. I work hard 5 days a week so that I could be my own boss on the weekend and make the most of those 48 hours. It is not the most satisfying approach towards life but it is definitely the most convenient right now. So naturally, I go out of the way to make each weekend special- maybe meet a friend, try a new cafe, or simply watch that movie I'd been wanting to watch. A good weekend not only means a great, satisfactory end to the week but also a refreshing prelude to the next one.

The ideal case scenario would be that I get to travel on most weekends but a much more doable thing is booking a nice staycation to break the monotony. As a person living in Delhi, I've got so many great resorts and hotels to choose from and my most recent discovery is Sandal Suites Operated by Lemon Tree in Noida. For some reason, I had always associate Lemon Tree with business hotels but just two days at the plush resort made me realise just how wrong I was.

Just an hour's drive from Delhi, the beautiful property is super easy to get to and saves you the trouble of advance planning. Just grab a couple of friends and breezy outfits and Sandal Suites will take care of the rest.

Accommodation

I stayed in a Deluxe Suite which had a small kitchen, a living room, a balcony, and a spacious bedroom with an attached bathroom. The bathroom had a thoughtfully curated vanity kit and a lovely bathtub for me to take long, relaxing baths and recharge myself for the coming week. In case you're going in a larger group, you could book the Presidential Suite, currently under construction, on the top floor right next to the infinity pool. I was extremely happy with the calming vibe of my room, the tasteful decor and the lovely aerial view of the greenery.

Dining

The all-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant Citrus whips up an amazing buffet spread for all three meals of the day. I thoroughly enjoyed both the Indian and the continental items on the breakfast buffet, with my favourites being the fluffy pancakes and crispy masala dosa.

We got super late for dinner and the staff was kind enough to arrange in-room dining with the nicest setting. Chef Gaurav Mullick prepared an array of Asian specialities from his kitchen. It was the perfect mix of old and new and I'm still in awe of the tomato clementine soup, stir fried greens and three tomato risotto.

Our last meal at the hotel was a lavish brunch (what more can you ask for on a Sunday?) prepared by Chef Amit Notiyal with an array of North Indian specialities. Each dish was an experience in its own, but it was the Veg Tandoori Platter that stood out the most, packing in culinary adventures like lotus stem galouti with bite-sized warqi parantha

If drinking is on the agenda, you can count on the mixologist at Bitters, the cozy bar at Sandal Suites. While the food was great, I must commend the super attentive and polite staff at the property that made sure I had a memorable dining experience.

Things to do

Infinity Pool
My absolute favourite part about the staycation was the amazing rooftop infity pool at Sandal Suites. It's the perfect setting to chill, groove to some music or read your favourite book. My friend and I had the best time enjoying the water while gorging on the delicious high-tea menu by the poolside.

Kiyomi Spa
If relaxation is the core motive of your staycation, I highly recommend you leave those tense muscles in the able hands of the experts at Kiyomi. You will love the soothing setting of the spa and will have plenty of therapies to choose from. I went for a 60-minute Abhiyangam massage and it was the most calm I had felt in a long time. There's also a special couple's spa menu and couple's therapy room in case you're visiting the property with your SO.

Activity Room
Sandal Suites has an impressive activity room with several boardgames, books, video games, pool table and a squash court! There's also a special corner for kids to keep them busy.

Overall, it's a great property well within your reach and budget to enjoy a memorable staycation! For more details and booking enquiries, click here.

  1. I can never get around the concept of staycation beyond the comforts of my home. Being a solo traveller has its downside. This certainly helped.
